Jonathan Kirkland
Jonathan Kirkland is a versatile and accomplished Actor, Singer, Educator, and Producer, hailing from Southfield, Michigan. With nearly two decades of experience, Jonathan has graced stages worldwide, captivating audiences in both Opera and Musical Theater. His talents extend beyond the stage, with an impressive portfolio of directing and performing in numerous television shows and films. As an operatically trained singer and a studio-trained actor, Jonathan has successfully realized his dream of becoming a crossover artist, using his diverse talents to inspire and entertain. Some of his notable career highlights include roles in popular shows like Tulsa Kings, How to Die Alone, FBI: Most Wanted, and Run the World. And his favorite theater role, is George Washington in Hamilton: An American Musical.

As a passionate educator and acting/vocal coach, Jonathan has coached actors to Broadway debuts, national tours, and significant television roles. He founded the Kirkland Residency after recognizing a critical need within the artistic community. Many young artists struggle to navigate the complexities of the entertainment industry, both in honing their craft and understanding the business side of things. The Kirkland Residency addresses these challenges by equipping young artists with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the professional arts marketplace. Its ultimate goal is to prepare them for the industry's ebs and flows while ensuring they enjoy the journey along the way.
Jonathan believes in building your own table and "producing the art that is on your heart, because that's what our world needs, the essence of You!" The Kirkland Residency is here to both motivate and teach young artists how to do just that.
Our Purpose
The Kirkland Residency is an acting and voice master class series that provides student artists access to world class professionals and unique education, motivation, inspiration, discipline and performance instruction. Servicing High School and College/Grad students alike, The Kirkland Residency, led by acclaimed international actor and singer, Mr. Jonathan Kirkland, aims to equip young artists to compete in the entertainment industry in their discipline of choice.
The Vision of The Kirkland Residency is to service schools and organizations nationwide, equipping young artists who desire to build sustainable careers in the arts. We want the young artists that work with us to walk away with the knowledge and skillset to be competitive in the marketplace. As champions for education, we recognize that it is not always feasible for schools, organizations or families to service the needs of their students in relation to the arts and we’re here to fill that void. By focusing on the whole person (through artistic integrity, intellectual awareness and emotional awareness), we believe our job is to develop young artists and expose them to opportunities that prepare them to thrive.
